Named after Victorian starlet and Saratoga resident Lillian Russell, Lillian’s Restaurant has been a Saratoga tradition since it opened in January of 1974.
Lillian Russell, billed as the English Ballad Singer, made her first appearance on Broadway in 1880. By 1891, this beautiful & talented woman was the star of Lillian Russell Opera Company. Retiring from the stage in 1921, Ms. Russell continued her public life by selling World War I Bonds & recruiting for the U.S. Marine Corps. Besides her stage life, Lillian is also remembered for her summers in Saratoga Springs, with the flamboyant Diamond Jim Brady.
